Some say to include the file in the config folder, some say in a 'lua' folder under the config folder, some say to call the script 'luarc', some say to call it 'a'. The instructions concerning how to install and call scripts that I found on the net is not consistent. The second issue is that I can not seem to get any lua script to work on the Mac. I have my own 'home grown' search app, but it never occurred to me to check the 'hidden' checkbox in the search, so it did not show up either. The reason it took me so long is that it is a hidden folder, and thus does not show up in normal searches.

Based on the manual it should be relatively easy to add functionality extensions, and they give an example of doing something similar. That made me wonder if there was anything like a Darktable users group and if anyone was writing lua code to expand the use of Darktable. That is a serious issue for me as I use links to external editors often, but while reading the DT manual I also saw that it supports the use of the lua scripting language, and that lua can be used to expand the functionality of Darktable. I did some testing, and it seems pretty good for a free editing tool, but on skimming through the manual I found that it does not support external editors. Yes, I know - they will probably come out of it and stay in business, and I trust that is correct as it is one of my favorite raw editors, but I also assumed that looking around for a replacement would not hurt. I only just started looking at Darktable, spurred on by the news that Dxo is in receivership.
